Artscow.com Canvas prints Review
I have now successfully completed a multinational project and it looks great!!!
That sounds amazing but in reality I found a company called Artscow.com who makes good quality stuff at prices many other companies can’t compete with. Why is this…. Because they are based in China is my guess. Being that I lived in China I was pretty skeptical about the quality of the product when I ordered it but it was at a price you can’t beat $15 for two 20×16 inch prints.
First to justify my skepticalness, I learned that their is a difference between “made in china” that stays in china and “made in china” that comes to the states. In the states you purchase a made in china bike and it may not be the best but it lasts a couple of years. In china when my friend Jerome (a big guy) purchased a brand new bike, he road it home (about 1 mile) and needed to have both pedals, two tubes, and one tire replaced before it was functional again! Thus a good example of Made for Chinese made in china goods.
So I received my prints about 3 weeks after ordering them and they look great
Now… I have to get them stretched, so I called a couple of places and realized it would have been cheaper to purchase the prints state side already stretched. $50 was about the general price to have that small print stretched (and I have two). So being the resourceful person I am I watched this video

purchased what I needed from Wet paint in St. Paul, mn
Staple gun= $10
Staples = $3.50
Frame x2 = $15
total= $30 (tax not bad math)

and I then stretched these small canvas prints myself.. how did they turn out?

the one area I had troubles with that I was not happy with was the corners, they don’t look bad but they don’t look professional.

So in the end the total cost came to about $45 for two 16×20in prints and about 1 hour worth of work
If I had just purchased them from my regular printer the two prints would have cost me about $180 (they would have looked better but thats a $135 dollar difference)
My conclusion on artscow.com is two thumbs up so far, I have also ordered some photo books from them, which were not cheap but nor expensive so we will have to see how I feel in a couple of weeks.
